Meet the Dentist.
Odalis Patricia Ponce Skur, D.D.S., M. P. H., D. P. H. is graduated with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) fron UNAH. She received her Master in Public Health/Geriatric training from UNTHSC in Fort Worth. Her post-graduate training in Dental Public Health/Pediatric from UNTHSC in San Antonio. Her Orthodontics training from The Academy of GP Orthodontics.
Dr. Ponce Skur has been able to create a welcoming and calming enviroment for her patients. By staying up to date in the current advances in dental Medicine. She is a general dentist certified in oral sedation, nitrous oxide ( laughing-gas). Dr. Ponce Skur speaks Spanish.
She has taught dental students at Baylor college of Dentistry in Dallas since 2001. Prior to Baylor she taught at the dental school at UNTHSC in San Antonio.
She is member of the America Dental Association (ADA), Texas Dental Association, Fort Worth Dental Society, America Association of Public Health (AAPHD), Academy of GP Orthodiontics, America Orthodontics Society, and Lion Club.
Dr. Ponce Skur has developed and conducted various research project at local, state and international level including:
Prevention and detection of Enamel Caries and Dental caries (WIC Clinic El Barrio San Antonio, TX), Developing explanatory models of health inequalities in children dental caries (among 17 countries), Prevention and detection at Open Door School, preschool, East Dallas Community School, several WIC clinics in Dallas, Detection of Diabetes Type II among Children, UNTHSC at Fort Worth, TX, Oral Health Survey, Texas Department of State Health Services, TX .

Dr. Ponce Skur works diligently to serve the needs of our community developing and creating communities programs in collaboration with Baylor College of Dentistry to improve their oral health. Some of their communities programs: Home Instruction Program for Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY), and Women, Infants and Children program (WIC). Dental Screening Open Door School and at Baylor preschool, East Dallas Community School, Dallas, TX, Special Olympic Smile, Feria de la Salud in Fort Worth, as well some Health Fair at local and international level.
